Abstract. Saputra HE, Syukur M, Suwarno WB, Sobir. 2022. Diversity and similarity of melon (Cucumis melo L.) groups determination distinguishing morphological characters. Biodiversitas 23: 6254-6261. Characterization is an important activity for the study genotype diversity similarity. The was aiming at obtaining information about to determine characters as differentiators between groups. genotypes tested were IPB240, IPB283, IPBM21, IPBM23, IPBME5, IPBMETA9, UME20, UME38, UME39, UME90, UME91, UME98, UME99, UME100, UME101. based on UPOV IPGRI guidelines qualitative quantitative Two showed no variation in all genotypes, namely sex expression (EK) secondary skin color outside groove (WKSDA). Qualitative that have high (WA), maximum width grooves (LMAA), intensity (IWA), flower stalk thickness (KTBN). UME98 had most different appearance from other heatmap. depth fruit are characteristics genotypes. There differences inodorus reticulatus types. Unlike IPBMETA9 genotype, UME101, UME38 formed same clusters with makuwa group. Melon group type depth, ratio length diameter, diameter hermaphrodite stalks, thickness. similarities, making it difficult find specific observed.

The genome of melon (Cucumis melo L.).

We report the genome sequence of melon, an important horticultural crop worldwide. We assembled 375 Mb of the double-haploid line DHL92, representing 83.3% of the estimated melon genome. We predicted 27,427 protein-coding genes, which we analyzed by reconstructing 22,218 phylogenetic trees, allowing mapping of the orthology and paralogy relationships of sequenced plant genomes. We observed the ...

Mapping and Characterization of the fefe Gene That Controls Iron Uptake in Melon (Cucumis melo L.)

Iron (Fe) deficiency in plants limits crop growth and productivity. Molecular mechanisms that plants use to sense and respond to Fe deficiency by coordinated expression of Fe-uptake genes are not fully understood. The C940-fe chlorotic melon (Cucumis melo) mutant known as fefe is unable to upregulate Fe-uptake genes, however, the FeFe gene had not been identified. In this study, we used two F2 ...

In Vitro Regeneration of Iranian Melon (Cucumis Melo L. ‘Samsoori’) Using Antibiotic and Benzyl adenine Micropropagation of Cucumis Melo L. ‘Samsoori’

Cucumis melo L. is one of the most economically important horticultural crops worldwide. However,   low plant regeneration frequency of this plant during genetic transformation is  the  major hurdle for  applying biotechnological approaches. Hence, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of 6-benzyladenine (BA), cefotaxime (CTX), kanamycin (KAN), and indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) on the regenerati...

Phenolic Profile and Antioxidant Activity of Melon (Cucumis Melo L.) Seeds from Pakistan

Phenolic composition of different extracts of honeydew melon seeds and their antioxidant activity was determined for the first time. Phenolic compounds were identified using a reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection (HPLC-DAD) method. Results showed the identification of five phenolic compounds in water extract namely gallic acid and its derivative, hydroxyb...
